ETSY PRINT ON DEMAND DOMINION
MADE BY A 6 FIGURE STAR SELLER
HOW IT ALL STARTED FOR ME & BACKGROUND
Hey! Let’s start with a short story of how I got into this business without wasting too much time. When I was around 24 and after working as a Digital Marketing Consultant for over a year at Google, I decided that I wanted to find a way to make money online because the usual 9 – 5 idea sounded horrible to me (and probably does to a lot of millennials when there’s so many opportunities nowadays).
After researching for a long time, I found about Drop-shipping, tried it, but the amount of money that is needed to become successful was too much for me at the time, you need at least $5-10k to spend on Facebook Ads and test stuff before finding a winning product that will make you money (you might also end up wasting all your money and still not find that product), so I had to find something less risky.
The Print on Demand business model sounded way better overall, you do not ship products from China which would take WEEKS to arrive to your customers, they are shipped directly from the US, you have a way better experience with these platforms when it comes to reshipments/refunds and is overall a much more pleasant experience compared to the dropshipping model, the only downside is that you cannot have insane profit margins per sale, but you can make plenty by VOLUME.
So, I found ETSY, which is an awesome marketplace for handmade products (mainly) but you can sell more than that!
I made my first Print on Demand store with Printful, which is a well-known POD company with a pretty well designed UI that makes everything simple for beginners, so I started adding about 500 designs on my store that I bought from random websites, hoping that I will make sales right away
I called a friend and told him to place an order on my store so I could have my first reviews because I was a store with 500 designs with no sales/no reviews and looked pretty odd. I started to pay for ads with a budget of $5/day (Etsy has its own Ads platform but we will dive into the subject later) and after a week or so after turning on the Ads I had a sale (this was before having any reviews on my store, because my friend had to wait for the order to get shipped before being able to leave a review on my store) – I was quite excited when this happened, and so I paid the fulfillment of my first order on Printful and the order got delivered to my customer a few days later.
Fast forward a few months later and I ended up with under 10 sales, so I had to do something about this as things were not working as I expected. I started looking into other stores to see what they were doing, and I found multiple stores that were making BANK and I started to look deeper into these niches and I made my own version of their design and I started to make sales every 2 days or so – I went into the Cancer Awareness niche, a niche that is popular up to this day and will probably never disappear, unfortunately.
This store was doing consistent sales after half a year, making somewhere around 200 – 400 USD in profits, not great but not bad either for a first attempt.
After running this store for around a year, I decided to put all my knowledge into a new store and start again from scratch, and this is what happened after 2 and a half years.
So, what happened? How was this achieved? Well, there are niches that work great and have an amazing fanbase and this will lead to your success (you also need decent designs, of course). Now besides this store, I also have a store that is selling
Digital Downloads and that one has over 4000 sales as well but is only a few months old. Enough with the stories; let’s dive into every single piece of information that needs to be known for your success to be achieved.
